Martha Yvonne Sharrow

Martha Yvonne Sharrow, age 89, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, died Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Beachside Center for Rehabilitation Healthcare, New Smyrna Beach. Born in Norlina, North Carolina to Cyrus Joseph and Lulu Grey Medlin Champion, Martha moved to Sanford, Florida in 1987 from New York City, New York.

Martha was a Union Representative for the United States Postal Service and was a member of 1st Baptist Church, New Smyrna Beach for over 20 years; and the Sea Cadets for Helping Veterans. Martha loved helping children and fostering fourteen children, emergency fosters as well. She enjoyed dancing, music, singing trees in Orlando, and going to home shows. Martha was a handy woman, loved the beach, animals and especially dogs.

Survivors include her husband of seventeen years, John P. Hanlon; five children, Juanita Miller, Rebecca Rose McLamb, Benjamin Eden Sharrow, Larry Douglas Sharrow, and Brandon James Sharrow; and fourteen grandchildren.

There will be no local service, the service will be in North Carolina, day and time to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to Southeast Volusia Humane Society, 1200 S. Glencoe Road, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168.
