Mary Tilley Obituary

 Mary Ruth Carver Tilley, age 92, of Port Orange, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Port Orange Nursing and Rehab Center.  Born in Sanford, to Isaac Jacob Carver, Sr. and Mollie Drew Carver; Mary spent most of her life in this area. 

A former administrative assistant for Bellsouth for over 30 years, she also worked at Read-Pattillo Elementary School and Bert Fish Medical Center. Mary was the valedictorian of her high school and taught as a teacher in Georgia.  She loved working with little children and spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her plants, crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles and playing on her Kindle.  

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Catherine Beilein of New Smyrna Beach; son, Thomas J. Tilley of Winter Haven; sister, Thelma Tyler of Port Orange; 6 grandchildren, Robert Schara Jr. (Mary Rae), Justice Walls (Brittany) and Jacob Walls, Thomas, Draven, and Paul Beilein; 2 great grandchildren, Giovanni Joseph Walls and Mollie Marie Walls; niece, Teresa (Jeff) Whitlock; and numerous cousins in Georgia.  Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney A. Tilley; her mother and father; and brother, Isaac Jacob Carver Jr. 

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 7, at Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery, with Reverend Charles D. Acheson officiating.
