Melody Marshall Patterson was born on October 18, 1955, to the late Josie Marshall and Harold Marshall Sr., in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Melody was educated in the Volusia County School System and graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School in 1973. She went on to complete her AA at Daytona Beach Community College graduating in 1975.
In 1984, Melody married Willie Patterson and they were blessed with two beautiful children, Dawaun and DaRhonda. After 30 years of hard work and dedication she retired from Bellsouth Communications in 2001. Melody was a member of Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church, New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and the NAACP. Melody spent her entire life dedicating herself to others, showing and teaching unconditional love. She enjoyed her time here traveling from coast to coast with her husband whom she loved the most.
She was preceded in death by her beautiful mother Josie Marshall, father Harold Marshall Sr., sister Brenda Walker and brother Deon Marshall. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband and soul mate, Willie Patterson, her children, Dawaun (Sarah) Patterson, Sr., and DaRhonda Patterson; grandchildren Jada Patterson and Dawaun Patterson, Jr.; brother Harold Marshall, Jr.; nephews and nieces: Jimmy Clark, Jr., Dion Marshall, Demario Marshall, Denetra Marshall and Jasmine Harper; godchildren: Waynetta Alderman Punter and Aneisha Ofide and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday August 22, 2021 at Glencoe-Geiger Cemetery, with Elder C.J. Haynes, New Salem Primitive Baptist Church, officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday August 21, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home.
