Melva Vernette Nance Lewis

On September 30, 1948 Charlie and Virginia Nance were blessed with the birth of a beautiful baby girl, whom they named Melva Vernette Nance.

 

Melva was a graduate of Chisholm High School Class of 1965. Melva was a majorette, ran track and played basketball. Not long after high school she attended Daytona State College where she studied and received a Degree of Associate in Science for Computer Science in 1982. Melva also went back to school and received and Associate of Applied Science Degree in Health Information Management and also in medical billing and coding.

 

Melva was born and raised in New Smyrna Beach. She enjoyed cooking, thrifting, traveling, reading and church. She was a faithful member of Allen Chapel A.M. E.

 

Melva is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Virginia Nance, daughter, April V.K. Lewis Brown; two grandchildren AnnTanell “Toys” Lewis and Autumn Lewis, and 12 siblings.

 

Melva leaves to cherish her memory son, Jack Lewis III, daughter; Janitrah Daley ( “Teddy”); sibling; Terry Nance, Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren: C’Tauryzs “Bud” Green (Monica), Indiana; C’Tayvus “Dre” Green, Daytona Beach; Michaylah “Chune” Kiel, Edgewater; Tushawn “Brown” Smith II, Daytona Beach; Gabrielle “Gabby” Lawrence, Edgewater; Ziyah Lewis, Howard “Devoney” Daley (Jennifer), Canada; Shanice “Renee” Myers (Richard), Fort Myers; Shamar “T.J.” Daley, Fort Myers; great grands: Karmyn Green, Kassidy Green, Jayce Green, Kharsen Walker, Kaysen Smith, Kaylani Grice, Maleyah Jefferson, Brielle Daley and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

Homegoing Celebration will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Apostolic Faith Temple, New Smyrna Beach with Pastor L. Pete Carter Jr., Bethel Baptist Church, New Smyrna Beach, officiating. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2023 at Allen Chapel A.M.E.
