Mike Wilson age 74, of New Smyrna Beach, FL died suddenly on Monday June 25, 2018 while vacationing with family in Pleasant Valley, NY. Mike was born on March 19, 1944 to James and Emma Wilson in Charlotte, NC. He attended Paw Creek Elementary School and an Alumnus of the Asheville School, class of 1962. He went on to study at Duke University and UNCC before a long and successful career that enabled him to travel the country and world. Mike will be remembered fondly as a charismatic, humorous, hardworking, and thoughtful man who loved his family and friends deeply.
In retirement he served as President of MBES, Inc. and Senior Project Manager for RE, LLC. He was active in his community as a member of Coronado Community United Methodist Church, the Anglers Yacht Club, and Smyrna Yacht Club, where he was able to make a positive contribution to his community until the time of his passing.
He is survived by his wife Roberta “Bobbi” Wilson, two sons, James P. Wilson and Brian M. Wilson, and five grandchildren, Haley Wilson, Lydia Wilson, Henry Perry, Madilynn and Olivia Hall and Sister Marie Wilson. He is preceded in his death by his brother Jimmy Wilson.
Services will be held in New Smyrna Beach at Settle Wilder Funeral Home on Friday, July 20th at 11:00 a.m., the Reverend Bob Brown will officiate. A reception will follow at the Anglers Yacht Club. A graveside service will be held in Charlotte on Sunday, July 29th, officiated by the Reverend Laura Berg.
