Oakley James Post Sr., age 92, of New Smyrna Beach, died Thursday, June 9, 2022 at his residence.
Born in Malone, New York to Oakley Seaman and Harriet Kingston Post, Oakley Sr. came to the area in 1995 from Farmingdale, New York.
A retired United States Coast Guard Master Chief, he was a member of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Association, and the New Smyrna Beach Garden Club. Oakley loved camping, walking the beach, Blue Grass music, and the mountains. He was involved with the Boy Scouts and enjoyed all of their outings. Family was Oakley’s life and will be dearly missed by all.
Survivors include his three sons, Keith (Bradley) Post; Oakley Post Jr.; and Kevin (Jackie) Post; two daughters, Joann (Donna) Post; and Kimberly (Vince) Roberts; four grandchildren, Melyssa, Christopher, William and Alice; great granddaughter, Eleanor and his dog, Tank. Oakley was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; his parents; and cousin, Beverly Stock.
Funeral service with Military Honors will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home with the Reverend Rick Douylliez, First Presbyterian Church, St. Mary, Georgia, officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday June 18, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Settle-Wilder Chapel.
