Oree Tyler Sr.

Oree Tyler Sr., age 88, of New Smyrna Beach, died Friday, July 28, 2023 at Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care, The Villages. Born in Loris, South Carolina to Ralph and Carrie Jacobs Tyler, Oree came to the area in 1976 from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

A service technician, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching old Westerns. Oree owned five service stations at one time in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. Oree will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Landrove, of Jacksonville and Patsy (Lincoln) Phillips, of Oak Hill; two sons, Wayne Tyler, of New Smyrna Beach; Oree Jr. (Kristen) Tyler, of New Smyrna Beach; five grandchildren, Shane, (Dawn), Allan, Danielle, Sara, Randy, and Frank; twelve great grandchildren, Tyler, Ricky, Matthew, Macy, Vinnie, Koneia, Hunter, Zachery, Kamira, Kaiya, Ronin, and Redden; brother, Ed Tyler; and sisters, Faye Hewitt and Alberta Long. Also survived by his special friend, Sandra Ledbetter.  Oree was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ruby Kate, and son, Randy.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2023 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home with Dr. Gordon Meier, officiating. Burial will follow at Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery. Friends will be received on Friday, August 4, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home.
