Paul Roger Betournay, age 76, of Lake Helen, FL, died Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Advent Health Orlando. He was born in Chicopee, Massachusetts to Roger “Shorty” and Claire Yvonne Coté Betournay, Paul came to FL in the late 1980's and settled in Melbourne Beach. Then, in 1998 he moved to New Smyrna Beach. Paul earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Engineering from the University of Massachusetts.
He was a man who wore many hats; retiring as a CAM Manager/Real Estate Broker. Paul was a brilliant businessman. He was well versed in his areas of expertise and was always learning and teaching others as much as possible. Paul was a member of the Sea Turtle Preservation Society, Melbourne Beach. He was an avid volunteer; giving talks educating the public about sea turtles and the environment. He was also on the permit for sea turtle strandings and salvage. Paul was a different kind of person; only a few knew how compassionate he was to all creatures. His love and kindness was instrumental throughout his entire life. Paul would help anyone in need and never expect anything in return. A gentle soul that will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lynn and was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Joseph Betournay and Marie Tessier.
A memorial will be held at a later date.
The family suggests memorials to Sophies Circle, 312 Julia Street, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168 or The Sea Turtle Preservation Society, 111 S. Miramar Ave., Indialantic, FL 32903.
