Pelham O'Neal

Pelham O’Neal, age 82, of New Smyrna Beach, died Monday, November 20, 2023 at Halifax Health Medical Center.  Born in Laurens City, Georgia to Idus and Leila Rozar O’Neal; Pelham moved to this area in 1971 from Macon, Georgia.

Pelham owned and operated the City Barbershop in New Smyrna Beach from 1971 until retirement in 2009. He had a large clientele and like any good barber, he loved talking and had the gift of gab. Pelham was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maggie Valley, in Maggie Valley, NC and the New Smyrna Lodge 149 F.&A.M., New Smyrna Beach.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife to North Carolina.  

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sandi; a sister, Barbara (Bill) O’Neal Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Pelham was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Marvin “Skebo” O’Neal; and 3 sisters, Pauline “Polly” O’Neal Woodard, Juanita “Weda” O’Neal Dominy, and Irene “Rena” O’Neal Heath.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 27 at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home, Dublin, Georgia. Burial will follow at Walnut Creek Baptist Church.
