Priscilla Grummer

Priscilla S. Grummer, age 91, passed away peacefully on December 11th in her home at Lexington Place, New Smyrna Beach, FL.  She was born in Manchester, VT on December 30th, 1929.  Priscilla and her husband, Gene Grummer (deceased 2011) first came to New Smyrna Beach in 1971.

 

Priscilla was a graduate of Burr and Burton, Manchester, VT and later attended Colby College in Waterville, ME.  She started her professional career at Merrill Lynch in New York City, at a time when the industry was almost entirely men. Within months, she had earned the confidence of her fellow workers and management. She loved the industry and was a voracious reader of the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and the Investors Business Daily. 

 

She married the love of her life, Gene Grummer in September of 1955 and immediately started a family.  Her survivors include, James H. Grummer of New Smyrna Beach, Nancy L. Grummer of New Smyrna Beach, and Sarah Storrs of Charlotte, NC.  She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

 

Priscilla tutored local students, was active in ACA and was an active member of St. Peter  the Fisherman.  Her interests were endless, from world travel to local politics.

 

A "Celebration of Life" will be held at St. Peter the Fisherman, New Smyrna Beach at 4220 Saxon Drive, NSB on January 11th at 1:00 p.m. Following the "Celebration of Life", a reception at the Anglers Yacht Club, located at TWO North Causeway, New Smyrna Beach, FL will be held.  Appetizers and open bar will be available.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Gifts of Love, a local food bank in Edgewater, FL, 820 West Park Ave, Edgewater, FL 32141 and/or the Anglers Scholarship Fund, Arden Kelley, Treasurer, 1025 S. Glencoe Road, New Smyrna Beach, FL  32168.
