Randy L. Baker, 68, formally of Salem, OH, currently of Edgewater, FL, passed away on April 26, 2024.
Randy was born on August 19, 1955, to Wilbur and Ruth (Martig) Baker in Salem, OH. After Randy graduated from Salem High School in 1974, he went on to machinist school.
After finishing school, he went on to work in some of the local businesses and machine shops, before joining the Ohio State Department of Transportation.
In 1975 Randy married his high school sweetheart Donna Mix and they had 2 children Heath and Mathew. Though time may have pulled them apart temporarily, they later reconnected and remarried in 2009 and have been blissfully and happily married ever since.
He retired after 30 years with ODOT, and since he couldn’t be bored, picked up bartending for the Independent HOSE club where he enjoyed quality time with friends and relaxing. He was a 46 year member of the Eagles club for both Salem (316) and Edgewater (4242). He was also a lifetime member of the VFW #892 in Salem. Above all else he was a forever fan of Cleveland sports and the Ultimate Ohio State Buckeye Fan.
Randy recently made the move to Florida to work on his tan, become a micro farmer, be closer to his family, and to watch his granddaughter grow up. He spent the last ten months there making precious memories with those he loved and enjoying being retired.
Randy is survived by his wife Donna Baker (Mix) of Edgewater, FL, and sons, Heath Baker (Rebecca) of Edgewater, FL and Mathew Baker (Kimberly) of Carrollton, GA. His partner in crime, granddaughter Abigail Baker of Edgewater, FL. Brothers Dennis (Melanie) of Winchester, VA, and their two children, and Terry (Kay) of Salem, OH, as well as sister Cheryl Moore (Baker) of Houston, TX, and her two children. (And 3 furry grandpups.)
A memorial will be held at a later date this year in his hometown of Salem, OH. The family asks that there be no flowers at this time and a charity for donations in his honor will be listed at the time of the memorial.
