Raymond F. Mazza, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, passed away on September 25th, 2020, after losing his battle with COVID, at the age of 79.
Raymond was born and raised in Deal, New Jersey. He spent 32 years as a member of the Deal Police Force, ending his career as Captain. He was an accomplished officer and served as firearms instructor, arson investigator, photographer, and was the first breathalyzer operator in the department. He received the New Jersey PBA award for heroism after saving the life of a child in a fire. Upon his retirement, he moved to Florida to relax with his family.
He was an avid hobbyist, he enjoyed scuba diving, star gazing, boating, fishing, cars, and so much more. He grew orchids, clivias, and roses. His garden was always full of hummingbirds and butterflies. He was a talented artist, he liked drawing, wood carving, photography, and origami. He was well versed in the art of debate. He could fix anything, he was always there for everyone, and he would give you the shirt off his back.
He is survived by his daughters, Alexandra and Breanna Mazza, his grandpuppy, Rio, three siblings, other relatives, and dear friends. He was loved deeply by those around him.
