Richard Joseph Bennert

Richard J. Bennert, 80, of Edgewater, Florida, formerly of Long Island, New York, passed away on Saturday, March 21st, 2026. He was born on April 1st, 1945 in Huntington, New York.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Virginia (Scarpati) Bennert, and infant grandson Jeremy Wagner.

Richard is survived by his wife, Gina (Allwang) Bennert of Edgewater, Florida, one daughter, Ellen (Oliver) Wagner and grandchildren Veronica, Miranda, and Conrad Wagner all of Waldorf, Maryland.

During his lifetime, Richard was an airline pilot with United Airlines. His passion was flying and Spanish music.

Visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, March 26th at Settle Wilder Funeral Home, New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 on Friday, March 27th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

Interment will follow in Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery, Edgewater, Florida.
