Richard Thomas Cooper, age 76, of Edgewater, died Saturday, June 15, 2024 at AdventHealth New Smyrna. Born in Clinton, Tennessee to Magnus and Lassie Hatmaker Cooper, Richard came to the area in 1997 from Miami.
A United States Army veteran, he was a heavy equipment mechanic. Richard enjoyed fishing and loved his dogs, Roxy and Jackie. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Nadine; two daughters, Ashley Cooper-Heath (James Heath), of Kingsland, Georgia; and Amy (Barry Jr.) Ownby, of Edgewater; seven grandchildren, Lexi, Lacey, Michael, Barry III, Landon, Kai, and Cohen. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and granddaughter, Alice.
Memorial service with military honors will be 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Bella Vista Baptist Church, with Pastor John Marsh, officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday, July 6, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Bella Vista Baptist Church.
