Richard John Folger

Richard John Folger, age 87 of New Smyrna Beach, died Tuesday, May 7,2024, at Halifax Health Hospice, Edgewater.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Lucille Willma and Edward C. Folger, Richard came to Florida in 1973 from Pewaukee, Wisconsin.

He served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves, was a national account manager in the medical equipment industry, and an award winning Toastmaster member.

Richard attended St. Norbert's College, was a graduate of Marquette University, Milwaukee, and earned an MBA from Rollins College.  He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach, were he was an usher and a volunteer for Human Ministries.

An avid runner, Richard lived on the river, fishing, shrimping, and crabbing, and known by his handle, "Pigfish". Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Richard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gail; his sons, Mark Folger of Titusville and Michael (Jackie) Folger of Mims; daughter Sandra (Butch) Garcia of Altamonte Springs; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brother Edward.

The funeral mass will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 17, 2024 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, with the Reverend Patrick Quinn officiating.  Burial will be  at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Titusville at a later date.
