Richard Martin

Richard Martin, age 84, of Edgewater, died Sunday, December 17, 2023 at his son’s home. Born in Charleston, West Virginia to Willie and Pauline Fischer Slack, Richard came to the area in 1968 from his birthplace.

A United States Marine Corp veteran, he was an insurance adjuster. Richard was a member of the VFW, Port Orange, and the Dixie 4 X 4's of New Smyrna Beach. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and old Western movies. Richard loved the outdoors and was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Survivors include his son, Steve (Alana) Martin, of Edgewater; 3 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; two brothers, Henry (Francis) Slack, and Tony Slack. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dianne Martin, and sister, Margaret Damron.

Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery with Chaplain Kennedy Jacobs, officiating.
