Richard "Pop" Hardy Johns Jr.

Richard "Pop" Hardy Johns Jr., age75, died Thursday March 6, 2025 at his residence. Born in Pahokee, Florida, to Elizabeth Ann and Richard H. Johns Sr., Pop came to this area in 1965 from Hudson, Florida.

Pop was a United States Air Force veteran, a New Smyrna Beach Police Officer, and was with law enforcement at Kennedy Space Center. He was a true patriot. Pop was an amazing cook that collected cast iron and loved boating, camping, and the outdoors. He wa a 6th generation Floridian.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Denise; 3 sons, Rick (Billie Jean) Johns, Jason (Dayl) Johns, and Ben (Danelle) Johns.; 8 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Terry Johns and his brother, Gary Johns.

Calling hours will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday March 14, 2025 at Settle Wilder Funeral Home, New Smyrna Beach. Interment with military honors will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday March 18, 2025 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims.
