Rita Neola Sulik

Rita Neola Sulik, age 67, passed peacefully on Saturday, August 28, 2021 with her daughters by her side and in her heart. Born in Detroit, Michigan to James Earl and Neola Wright McPhee; Rita and her husband Ted, came to the area almost 40 years ago from Detroit.

Rita was an award winning fiber artist and Mom to what she always called “the best daughters ever”. She also enjoyed home improvement projects and was an avid antique and vintage purse collector. 

One of her favorite pastimes was sitting on the front porch, “Porchin’ It!” with family and friends who were always welcome. The coffee pot was always on and the ashtrays overflowing. A very wise woman, she once said, “it says best if used by, it doesn’t say it’ll kill ya if ya don’t”. It is these moments of love and laughter we will always remember and cherish forever in our hearts.

Survivors include her daughters, Trina (Billy Finch) Sulik, of New Smyrna Beach and Trista (Arden) Herrin, of Falmouth, Massachusetts; 2 grandsons, Abijah Herrin and Phineas Herrin; sister, Anita Vogler, of Clearwater, Florida; and brother, Pat McPhee, of Ortonville, Michigan. Rita was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Ted and her parents.
