Robert Edward Cook died peacefully July 13 with his loving family his side at the age of 97. He was a long-time resident of Severna Park and Arnold Maryland after moving to the area in 1971. Bob was born on January 17, 1926, in Rochester, New York and graduated from East Rochester High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army Air force as a navigator during WW II.
After being honorably discharged in 1946 he returned to Rochester where he enrolled and graduated from the University of Rochester with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. From there he was hired by Westinghouse Electric and worked as the mid-Atlantic regional manager before he retired in 1995. Bob enjoyed fishing and traveling. He was noted for his keen intellect, wonderful sense of humor, and was a prolific reader. Upon retirement Bob spent many hours volunteering his time for various organizations, including the Service Corps of Retired Executives, BWI airport, Meals on Wheels, and the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center (formerly Wildfowl Trust Horsehead Sanctuary).
He is survived by his two children, Robert Craig Cook, MD and his wife Evelyn of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and Linda Jean Cook of Rowley, Massachusetts, his sister Marilyn D’Allura Richter and her husband Bob of NewYork. He was proceeded in death by his wife Ella Lee Parish in 2000. At the time of death, he was residing with his long-time partner Inga Fauter in Arnold, Maryland. Bob was a parishioner at St. Margarets and St. Martins in the Field Episcopal Churches. Donations can be made to the Parkinsons Disease Michael J. Fox Foundation.
