Sally Louise Shough, was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 22, 1929 to Bernice (Finch) and George B. Marshall and moved to Elyria, Ohio in 1933. She graduated from Elyria High School in 1947; married Thomas P Richards in 1949 and moved to North Ridgeville, Ohio. Sally was active in PTA and served as secretary to North Ridgeville’s first Mayor Luke Loufman until 1963. She became a deputy Sheriff for eight years for the Lorain County Sheriff’s department and then worked in Security at Sears for several years. Sally went on to serve as North Ridgeville City Council for one year and then elected as Council President for three years.
She married her second husband Herbert B Shough in 1976 and after his retirement moved to Bradenton, Florida where they lived for 27 years. Sally moved to Monroe, NC in 2006 and joined the Central United Methodist Church where she became a Stephen Minister, a member of the Alter Guild, Faith, Hope and Charity Circle and the Pathfinders Sunday School Class.
Sally was pre-deceased by her husband, Herbert Shough (34 years); daughter ,Cynthia Rongstad; brother, Walter Marshall; sisters, Shirley Richards and Mary Henson; stepson, H Richard Shough; granddaughter, Jennifer Shough; and great granddaughter, Sawyer Jefferson.
Survivors include her sons, C Thomas Richards (Donna), Elizabeth City, NC; and Timothy P Richards (Linda), Wimauma, FL; daughters, Denise J Rogerson, Afton, OK; Terri Barricello (Michael), Mooresville, NC; and Melissa Richards, Edgewater, FL who was her caregiver for three years; stepson, C Douglas Shough (Elaine), Bradenton, FL; 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria, Ohio.
