Samuel J. Deane, age 100, of New Smyrna Beach, died Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at his residence. Born in Everett, Massachusetts to Samuel and Susan M. Baskin Deane. Samuel J. came to New Smyrna Beach in 1995 from East Kingston, New Hampshire.
He was a United States Navy veteran and an accountant. Samuel was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Episcopal Church, New Smyrna Beach and was very active in the church. He enjoyed reading the newspaper cover to cover, was a lover of knowledge, was a life long Red Sox fan, loved to travel and take cruises, an avid gardener in New Hampshire; growing potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, radishes, lettuce, raspberries, cantaloupe and pumpkins. Sam and was a true gentleman that was known for his laugh. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Jeannine; daughter, Susan (Dan) DiLullo, of Melrose, MA; step-daughter, Leslie Mathews, of New Smyrna Beach; 3 step-sons, Gordan (Donna) Clark, of Dover, NH; Steven (Nadine) Clark of Dover, NH; and Jim Clark of Naples, FL; 7 granddaughters, Lori, Amy, Kelly, Katie, Kristina, Stephanie and Hanna; grandson, Jamie; 4 great grandchildren, Tenley, Logan, Brayden and Alexandra. He was preceded in death by his late wife of 32 years, Mary.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2020 at St. Peter the Fisherman Episcopal Church, with the Reverend Jim Spencer, officiating.
