Obituary

Sarah Louise Townsend, age 87, died Sunday, April 2, 2023 at her residence. Born in Watson, West Virginia to Elmer S. and Retta Helen Hollister Ware, Sarah came to the area in 1974 from Virginia.

A homemaker, she was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Oak Hill and the Oak Hill Garden Club.  Sarah enjoyed spending time with her family playing cards, attending plays and enjoying meals, etc.  She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Davenport, of Oak Hill; son, Carl Townsend, of Byron, Georgia; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and sister, Charlotte Nierman.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Zane; sons, Charles and Clifford; granddaughter, Sarah Jane; sisters, Carol and Betsy; and brother, Michael.

Sarah told others how God has blessed her with good friends and good family when ever she got the chance. She made a real difference in the hearts of all who knew her. She loved the Lord with all her heart.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Oak Hill Cemetery, with Dr. Timothy Palmer, officiating.
