Shirley Clevenger, age 92, of Oak Hill, joined her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 13, 2020.
Born in Toledo, Ohio to Herthel and Lula Gorsuch, Shirley came to the area in 1978 from Archbold, Ohio.
From her early secretarial days through working with her husband in their business, and waitressing in a deli, she most enjoyed being a homemaker and raising their 3 children.
Shirley had such fun as a Cub Scout Den Mother; sang in the church choir; taught Sunday School to the age of 87; had a true gift of hospitality – never knowing a stranger; and always portrayed the love of Christ.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Deb Moon (John) of Longwood, FL; Susie Bowman (David) of Lakeland, FL; her son Richard (Pat) of Sugarland, TX; 8 grands; 9 great-grands; 5 great-great-grands; and 2 sisters, Ruth Ann Barber (Dick) of Adrian, MI and Marcella Linn (Don) of Mt. Gilead, OH.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband James of 69 years, brother Ken Gorsuch, and her parents.
Private interment will be at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL.
Family requests you honor her by sharing special memories of her with your loved ones.
Any memorials may be made directly to Vitas Hospice. 6850 New Tampa Hwy, Suite 600, Lakeland, FL 33815.
