Stephen (Steve) David Holmes

Stephen (Steve) David Holmes, age 71, of Edgewater, died Saturday, November 11, 2023 at his residence. Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina to William Osborne and Dorothy Leonard Cox Holmes, Steve retired and returned to the area four years ago from Laurens, South Carolina.

Graduated from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. A registered nurse, he worked at Halifax, Daytona Beach for 26 years as an operating room nurse. Steve worked at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He previously attended Capstone Church, Fountain Inn, South Carolina and was the former owner of Nature’s and Gifts Nursery. Steve enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He loved spending time with his son and grandchildren.

Survivors include his son, Justin (Brooke) Holmes; brother, Mike (Jenny) Holmes; sister, Donna (David) Holmes; grandchildren, Kelsey Holmes, Mackenzie Holmes, Walker Holmes, and Wyatt Holmes; great grand, Loddie Pompa. Steve had a large extended family, including several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Mark Holmes.

There are no local services, a private service will be in South Carolina.
