Steven Michael Foglio, age 73, of New Smyrna Beach, passed away Friday August 13, 2021 at Halifax Health Hospice in Port Orange, FL.
Born in Martinsburg, West Virginia to Michael Paul and Una Mae Saville Foglio, Steve came to the area in 1985 from Alexandria, Virginia.
A United States Navy veteran, he retired after a successful career as a public school teacher, administrator & coach where he mentored countless youth in both Virginia & Florida. Steve was a member of First United Methodist Church in New Smyrna Beach and the Southeast Volusia Senior Softball Association. He is forever remembered as a beloved coach to the high school bowling, baseball, wrestling, football & softball teams. Steve truly enjoyed spending time with his family, playing poker & softball, and especially looked forward to the annual Foglio family reunions. He was a devoted husband, loving father and “awesome granddad.”
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Ellen; son, Tom (Amanda) Foglio; 3 grandsons, Logan, Landen and Luca Foglio, all of Daytona Beach; 2 brothers, Danny (Terri) Foglio, of Centreville, Virginia and Mark (Darla) Foglio, of Pekin, Illinois; and sister, Teresa (Dennis) Morrison, of Springfield, Virginia. Steven was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Susan.
Visitors will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 20, also at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens.
In remembrance of Steve’s life, the family asks that charitable donations be made to Cudas Unhooked (P.O. Box 394, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32170) to allow local at-risk/homeless teens access to team sports; or to First United Methodist Church of New Smyrna Beach. Please notate “In memory of Steve Foglio.”
