Thelma C. Tyler, age 87, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Halifax Health Medical Center, Daytona Beach. Born in Sanford, Florida to Isaac J. and Mollie Drew Carver, Thelma was a lifelong area resident.
She graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School and worked in the communications industry for 47 years. Thelma loved fishing, being outdoors, and going to craft fairs. She was active in Sandspur Riding Club and loved going to horse shows. Thelma adored all of her animals; horses, dogs, and cats. She loved to watch her donkeys playing and having fun. Thelma was also an avid NASCAR and Dale Jr fan.
She was a devoted wife, mother, a beautiful sole on the inside and outside; the sweetest lady ever. Thelma was always there for her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to be a part of her life.
Survivors include her daughter, Teresa (Jeff) Whitlock, of New Smyrna Beach. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Ruth (Sidney) Tilley, brother, Isaac J. (Mary) Carver Jr. "Buddy"; and her husband, Sam Tyler.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, with Chaplain Suzan M. Satchell, officiating. Burial will follow at Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery. Friends will be received on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to a charity of your choice in her memory.
Her favorite saying was "A week from now, a month from now, this will all be behind us, we'll get through it together."
