Tom Duley Alcorn, 82, a beloved husband, respected educator, and accomplished real estate professional, passed away peacefully at home on March 22, 2025, in presence of his wife, Lucy. Tom's life was a testament to hard work, community involvement, and a genuine love for people. For 53 years, he shared his life with his devoted wife, Lucy, a partnership that was the cornerstone of his life. His 34-year career in real estate sales in New Smyrna Beach was marked by exceptional success and unwavering dedication. He expertly handled both residential and commercial sales, leaving an indelible mark on the community’s landscape. His contributions to the New Smyrna Beach Board of Realtors were immense, having held every office within the organization and receiving the prestigious Realtor of the Year award twice. Furthermore, he chaired the Realtor’s commercial monthly meeting for Southeast Volusia County, demonstrating his leadership and commitment to the profession. Beyond real estate, Tom’s passion for community development was evident in his roles as past chair of the Edgewater Economic Development Board and his service on the New Smyrna Beach Chamber Economic Development Board. His commitment to education extended beyond his own impressive achievements. Holding a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Bellarmine University of Louisville, KY, he generously shared his knowledge and expertise as a professor at five different universities, teaching courses in finance and inspiring countless students. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life, as a member of the United States Army Ready Reserve. Tom was a man of remarkable character, known for his zest for life, infectious laugh, and unparalleled ability to connect with people. He possessed a great sense of humor, loved sharing stories, and was always ready with a joke. An adventurous traveler, he embraced spontaneity and was ready to embark on new adventures at a moment’s notice. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting legacy of friendship and support. Tom will be deeply missed by his wife, Lucy, and all those whose lives he enriched. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date to be determined and shared with close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to charity of choice.
