Thomas Ray Poveromo, 67, passed away on December 15, 2024, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Born on February 12, 1957, in Augsburg, Germany, Tom spent his early years abroad as part of a military family before settling in Nashville, Tennessee, and later in Edgewater, Florida, where he graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School.
In 1974, Tom enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served with honor until 1980, working as a radio operator in high-conflict areas and rising to the rank of Corporal.
Tom was the proud father of two daughters, DeAnne and Debra. His daughters and grandchildren were the joy of his life, and he eagerly awaited the arrival of his first great-grandchild, a baby girl, due in March 2025.
He enjoyed fishing, cruising the Caribbean, and watching old movies, finding joy in life's simple pleasures.
Professionally, Tom excelled in restaurant management, sales, and private security, earning accolades for his leadership and professionalism.
Tom is survived by his daughters, DeAnne Maples and Debra Rinne (Thomas Rinne); his treasured grandchildren, Beau (Madisen) Maples, Kyle Maples, Meridyth Maples, and Miranda and Curtis Rinne; the mother of his children, Karen Poveromo; his loving companion, Dawn Musetti; his brother, Michael (Houston, Texas); his brother, David Griffin (Edgewater, Florida); and countless family members and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
A celebration of Tom’s life, complete with military honors, will take place on January 2, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida.
