Warren Milstead Obituary

On Monday May 3, 2021, Warren Emory Milstead passed away peacefully at his home in New Smyrna Beach FL surrounded by family.
Warren was born Jan 27, 1948 to Emory and Lillian Ross Milstead. He was raised and spent most of his adult life in rural Charles County MD. From a very young age, he had a love for the outdoors and became an avid woodsman who enjoyed hiking, hunting and fishing. He spent time in his younger years at his grandparents' home on the Potomac River. When he had children of his own, they joined all the relatives who made a ritual of gathering at “The Shore” every Sunday for picnicking, boating, and swimming.
Warren bought his own horse when he was a young man and joined the local 4-H trail riding club. He also excelled on his high school track team, and later enjoyed coaching soccer. He was proud of his Masonic membership at Perseverance Lodge #208 in Indian Head, MD. He was interested in anything history related and especially enjoyed socializing and talking with everyone he met. Warren possessed a special talent in construction and was able to envision and build anything he set his mind to. He was always willing to share his knowledge and help others in their projects. He was highly respected in his career as an Iron Worker, and retired from Ironworkers Union Local #5 of Washington, D.C. in 2003.
After retirement, he moved to Florida where he eventually met and married his wife Dana and settled in New Smyrna Beach where he enjoyed renovating their historic home. He liked to attend classic car shows and bought his own antique pickup truck that he enjoyed showing.  Warren especially looked forward to meeting the guys every Saturday morning for breakfast and deciding what scenic route they’d take for their weekly motorcycle ride.
Warren is survived by Dana, his best friend and wife of 11 years, his children Stephanie Milstead Duncan and Landon Milstead, stepson Robert Dykes, four grandchildren Lauren Duncan Palmer and Elizabeth Duncan, Hunter and Molly Milstead, a great-grandchild due in August, and four siblings Dolores Line (husband Larry), Audrey Gayan (husband Larry pre-deceased), Cheri Swor (husband Mick), and Chris Milstead (wife Tina), and many loving nieces and nephews.
Warren requested there be no formal services upon his passing; however, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date to be announced to family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Warren’s memory to Halifax Health Hospice, c/o Hospice Fund Development, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange FL 32129.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
