William Charles Newhouse

William Charles Newhouse, age 93, of New Smyrna Beach, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024 at AdventHealth in Daytona Beach.  

Born in Bradford, PA to William James and Zelpha Russell Newhouse; William moved to this area in 1993 from Ramsey, NJ upon retirement to care for his mother and reconnect with friends and family in the area. He attended First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach.

William served in the United States Air Force and was stationed overseas in Germany. He was a Pennsylvania State University graduate and played in the marching band during college. His successful career in accounting afforded the opportunity to live in many states and included commuting into NYC for over 10 years prior to retirement. He enjoyed listening to music, playing the drums, jogging, skiing, boating, fast cars (his favorite was his GTO), Harley Davidson motorcycles and writing stories. His love for his wife Donnie was beyond measure. His greatest joy was in spending family time with his children and  grandchildren, creating a lifetime of wonderful memories together.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Donnie; 3 children, William Scott (Christy) Newhouse, Stacy Lynn (Gary) Cotton, and Ellen Elaine Kelley; 11 grandchildren, Daniel and Caitlyn Newhouse, Julie, Joey and Jenny Cotton, Grace, Jaime and Max Kelley, and Abbey, Aubrey and Alley Coker; step-children, Kimberly Coleman, Troy (Teri) Kopp, and Natasha Coker.  William was preceded in death by a brother, Richard.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 25, at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, with Dr. Gordon Meier officiating.  Entombment with military honors will follow at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater.  Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. until the service time at the funeral home.
