Wilson Austin Obituary

Wilson (“Buddy”) Towles Austin, 65, passed peacefully on Feb. 8th, 2021, at Halifax hospice center after a short battle with metastatic cancer and recent hospitalization.
He was raised in New Smyrna Beach and in 1972 became the Captain of the Cudas football team (#65). After high school he married and had 1 daughter, Christina. After divorce, he married Linda Oldcom who had 2 sons Jeff and Brian Zona. Shortly thereafter he and Linda adopted 2 sons from the family, Steven and Chris.
Buddy worked for New Smyrna Utilities for 31 years as an electrician which included working in many storms. He would be the one to turn your lights back on after the storms. He was always kind, gentle and fun loving and would joke around with anyone just like his Dad.
He always loved his hunting, fishing and shrimping for a past time. He always took loving care of his wife Linda and his family. He helped anyone in the family or friends that needed it with open arms. There wasn’t a human or animal that “didn’t Love him” just like his father.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bud and Evelyn Austin of Samsula where his father had been a member of IBEW local 756 for 40 years and brother, Harvey Steve Austin.
Surviving family members include a sister; Dr. Susan Hole, daughter; Christina, sons; Chris Austin, Brian and Jeff Zona, granddaughters; Carlie and Saralynn, Shelby Adams, grandsons; Jerry Adams, Austin Fuller and great grandson; Andrew Fuller.
Due to current pandemic conditions a service is not planned at this time.
