Bruce T. Jennings, age 86, of New Smyrna Beach, died Friday, March 3,2017, peacefully at home.
Born in Orlando to Clark W. and Mary Sybil Jennings, Mr. Jennings moved to this area in 1982 after retiring from Lockheed Martin. He was a former member of Park Lake Presbyterian Church, was a lifetime member of the Elks Club, Edgewater and New Smyrna Beach at Lodge#1557, and Orlando at Lodge #1079. He was a past Commander of the Daytona Beach Sail & Power Squadron. He taught: water safety, scuba diving for Orlando Otters Scuba Diving, navigation by the stars with the Power Squadron & was the photographer and editor of their newspaper. He enjoyed: the water, sailing, photography, and music. Bruce had a band called the "Melotones" for several years. He played trombone since High School.
Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Joan; three daughters, Susan (Ken) Brown of Orlando, Judith Jennings of Orlando, and Sarah Carlie of Orlando; one son, Donald (Sherri) Jennings of Orlando; step-daughter, Pam (Fred) Curley of Altamonte Springs; step-son, Herb (Patrice) Schmidt of Spring Hill; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. Clark W. (Phyllis) Jennings; and many other nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, LeeAnn Jennings.
Funeral service will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, following the Family receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Chaplain Raphael Camilo will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater.
