William E. Robinson, Sr., age 74, of Edgewater, died Monday, October 16 at Florida Hospital New Smyrna. Born in New Smyrna Beach, Mr. Robinson was a lifelong area resident and truck driver in the construction industry.
A true patriot, he served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam and then joined the Army Reserves. He was a member and service officer at American Legion Post 285; a member of VFW Post 3282; a member of AmVets Post 2; and a charter member of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1098. He was also a member of Eagles Aerie 4242; was a mentor at New Smyrna Beach High School and New Smyrna Beach Middle School; and enjoyed his old cars and fishing. Above all, he loved his family.
Survivors include his wife of 52½ years, Annabelle; 2 daughters, Tina (Tom) Garry of Edgewater and Marlena (Waylon) Ferreira of Grand Island, Nebraska; 2 sons, William “Billy” (Kelly) Robinson, Jr. of Orange City and Darren (LaChelle) Robinson of Groveland; 3 brothers, Jimmy (Chong) Robinson, Kenny Robinson, and Stanley (Stacey) Robinson; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Juanita Robinson and a sister, Marilyn Willis.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21 at Settle-Wilder Chapel, with Minister George Galloway officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. Saturday until service time. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.
