William “Bill” Stewart, age 90, of Oak Hill, died Tuesday, May 24, 2017 at Halifax Hospice, Edgewater. Born in Homerville, Georgia, Mr. Stewart came to this area in 2005, from Orlando, where he owned and operated Stewart Lumber Company.
A World War II Navy veteran, he served in South Africa and the Pacific. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene of New Smyrna Beach and enjoyed fishing and shrimping.
Survivors include his wife, Drewery; three sons, Greg (Kay) of Winchester, Tennessee, Pete of High Point, North Carolina, and Paul of Orlando; four daughters, Priscilla (Tom) Tepee of Home Mountain, Arkansas, Cheryl Bryant of Danville, Kentucky, Elaine (John) Donahue of Orlando, and Valene (Bill) Mendabizal of Tampa; a sister, Catherine (Ron) Stock of New Smyrna Beach; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 27 at First Church of the Nazarene, with The Reverend Charles Acheson and Pastor Adrian Calhoun officiating. Committal will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Orlando. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Settle-Wilder Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to First Church of the Nazarene, 201 South Orange Street, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168.
